Laminating Glass Summary
Our laminated art projects can be made and taken home the same
day. We use special nontoxic light-sensitive glue. Just a
few minutes of exposure to ultra violet rays from the sun
or a light box will chemically activate the glue making a
strong permanent bond between the glass pieces. The laminating
projects are appropriate for ages 5 & up. Younger children
may participate with adult assisting.
Fusing and Slumping Glass Summary
To fuse, each piece is heated in our kiln to 1,480 degrees.
Over the course of 17 hours the small decorate pieces of
glass fuse or "melts" into one piece. Some pieces require
a second firing; this is called the slumping cycle. During
this second firing the fused piece of glass is heated on
a ceramic mold so that it slumps "falls" or "sags" into your
chosen shape.
All fused and slumped artwork must be picked up at a later
date. Processing time depends on firing schedule. It is recommended
to discuss with Walk-In Workshop staff your exact time frame.
Project Time Length
The time it takes to complete a project varies. The general
rule is that the larger projects the more time it takes because
there is more surface area to decorate. Most fusing and slumping
projects take 45 ? 60 minutes to design while the laminated
or painted projects take 20 ? 40 minutes. These time estimates
differ depending on the individual.
Pick-Up or Shipping
Please speak with the Walk-In Workshop staff at the time the

slumped pieces. It is $15 to ship any piece. All
