The
one-hour guided tour, available by reservation, includes the
following:
- “Transformed
by Light”, a 12-minute video covering the history
and origins of glass art, the studio movement, and Glassworks.
- Architectural
Glass Art – an innovative cold-working/warm-working
studio that was founded in 1875, is among the oldest stained
glass art studios in continuous operation in the United States,
and the founding studio of Glassworks.
- Payton
Flameworks - owned by Mark Payton, a self taught
flameworker of 16 years. Watch the artists sculpt with glass
and an oxygen/propane torch.
- Glassworks
Hot Shop – learn about the process and
watch artists blowglass in its molten state.
Admission
Fee:
$4.00 each for a minimum of 20 students
Admission for teachers and a limited number of chaperones
accompanying the group is complimentary.
Field
Trip Times: Monday–Friday 10 am – 2 pm
Last tour time starts at 2 pm
Hands-on glass art activities are available for an additional
fee per student.
